Transient arrested for robbery at Stater Bros in Hesperia

HESPERIA, Calif. ( — A 62-year-old transient arrested for robbery last week in Hesperia remains in jail on a $50,000 bail.

It happened on March 28, 2024, at about 4:30 pm, at the Stater Bros located in the 16900 block of Main Street.

Deputies from the Hesperia Police Department responded to the location referencing a male subject causing a disturbance.

Deputies learned the suspect later identified as Anthony Torelli, entered the store and took items.

Amanda Paslak, the spokeswoman for the Hesperia Station said the suspect was contacted by employees at which time the suspect assaulted and threatened an employee. The spokeswoman did not elaborate on the items that were stolen.

Deputies made contact with Torelli and detained him. He was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for PC211-Robbery and PC422(A) Making Criminal Threats.

He is scheduled for a hearing on April 10, 2024, inside a Victorville courtroom.
